Buds and Beats 2027: Zurich cannabis festival moves to two days

On 2 September 2026 CannaTrade.ch AG opened registration for exhibitors and sponsors of Buds and Beats 2027. The hemp festival will return to Halle 622 in Zurich on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 May 2027 and, unlike the first edition in 2025, will last two days. The next CannaTrade, by contrast, is scheduled for 19 to 21 May 2028.

Festival and fair in alternate years

According to the organisers' timeline, CannaTrade's two-year cycle was reintroduced to put the fair on a stable economic footing. In the intermediate year 2025 Buds and Beats was held for the first time as a one-day event; in 2026 CannaTrade celebrated its 25th anniversary from 29 to 31 May. In their statement of 2 September the organisers present the festival as the meeting point of the Swiss cannabis community in the year "without CannaTrade". The trade fair portal messen.de lists Buds and Beats as taking place every 24 months.

Opening hours, space and programme

The festival website gives the opening hours: Friday from 2 pm to 8 pm and Saturday from 11 am to 8 pm, with the outdoor areas open until 10 pm. According to messen.de, the exhibition space covers 3,000 square metres in a single hall and the event is open to the general public. Entry is for adults only, dogs are not allowed and smoking is allowed in the outdoor zone.

The programme is organised in zones: those announced include Smoking, Talk, Music, Art, Beach, Skate, Food, Game, Glass, CBD and Hemp. Live glassworking demonstrations with Manu Raves (Glashus) are planned in the Glass Zone; the organisers also list the Swiss joint-rolling championship and a small skatepark among the highlights. The detailed timetable of acts and talks will be published in autumn and winter 2026. According to the September statement, ticket sales were due to start at the end of September; on 6 October 2026 the organisers promoted early-bird tickets without giving a price.

What it means for the Swiss and Ticino sector

For exhibitors and producers the calendar is now set: the festival in odd-numbered years, the fair in even-numbered years, always at Halle 622 in Zurich-Oerlikon. The move from one to two days, opening as early as Friday afternoon, leaves more time for contacts and presentations. Ticino producers also use these events as a showcase: in 2025 the CannaSwissCup award ceremony, at which a Minusio farm took first and second place in the Outdoor category, was held at the festival.
