CannaSwissCup 2025: Ticino takes first and second in Outdoor
The Minusio farm Slow Farm SA took first and second place in the Outdoor category of the 2024/25 CannaSwissCup, the Swiss competition for CBD flowers and Hashish. As tio.ch reported on 9 June 2025, first prize went to Candy Kush and second to Saparot. The awards were presented on 31 May 2025 in Zurich, during the Buds and Beats festival.
In brief
- Outdoor category: first place for Candy Kush, second for Saparot, both from Slow Farm SA of Minusio.
- 27 varieties competed in three categories: 7 Indoor, 7 Outdoor and 13 Hashish.
- Award ceremony on 31 May 2025 at the Buds and Beats festival, Halle 622, Zurich.
- In 2024 the Ticino company had won the Greenhouse and Outdoor categories.
The competing varieties and the winners
According to the list published on the competition's website, the 2024/25 edition had 27 varieties: seven in the Indoor category, seven in Outdoor and thirteen in the Hashish category; compared with the previous year, there was no Greenhouse category. In Outdoor, Slow Farm entered three varieties, Purple OG, Saparot and Candy Kush; three more came from Cannalpina (Walliser Rambo, Purple Lemon and JYM Tonic) and one from JYM Seeds (Tangerin Dream). For every competing variety the website publishes a terpene analysis.
According to the website, hundreds of jury members voted. Besides the two Ticino varieties at the top of the Outdoor category, the list of winners includes Purple OG from Slow Farm and the three Cannalpina varieties. In the Indoor category it includes, among others, Make Love not War by CR Performance GmbH and Fanta 4 by Clonef/SCM/CRP; in the Hashish category, among others, 3X by Tree Friends Sàrl, Lemon Ice by Euro-Redcity and swizzTOPzz by CBD Manufaktur GmbH.
Confirmation for Ticino hemp
In the tio.ch article the company is also referred to by its brand name, Slow Weed. Co-founder Pablo De Gottardi commented: "For us this is an important recognition that rewards craftsmanship." According to De Gottardi, the award also recognises the natural cultivation of the small Ticino farm.
The result comes one year after the 2024 double, when Slow Farm won the Greenhouse category with Limoncello and Outdoor with Candy Kush. Since 2018 the farm has grown to about 1.5 hectares of greenhouse and open field, as tio.ch reported in 2024. For Ticino it confirms that crops from the canton hold their own in a competition that tio.ch calls the most prestigious in Switzerland.
The next edition
For the 2025/26 edition the competition opened to foreign producers for the first time; previously it was limited to CBD hemp produced in Switzerland. There are again four categories: Indoor, Outdoor, Greenhouse and Hashish. Each producer submits 950 grams per registered variety, a laboratory checks every variety for THC, pesticides and synthetic cannabinoids, and the selected varieties are packed into 850 jury kits for flowers and 850 for Hashish. The award ceremony took place on 30 May 2026, during CannaTrade.
